Chorale and the Knightingales Rock Us at Winter Concert
Participating in the evening’s sing-along, rev-up number, audience members channeled their 1977 identities—lived or imagined—and belted out “We will, we will ROCK YOU!” to kick off the Chorale and Knightingales Winter Concert in the Lindberg-Serries Theater.
Chorale director Joel Sindelar, appropriately decked out in rose-colored glasses and a red-flowered, satiny jacket, introduced a program of “rock ‘n’ roll royalty,” including hits by Queen, Prince, and the King of Pop Michael Jackson, plus songs by Adele and The Weekend.
In various permutations, the Ninth-grade Chorus, the Chorale, and the a cappella Knightingales took turns in the spotlight. Accompanying the vocals and amping up the rock-out vibe of the evening, a small band joined the singers for renditions of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Somebody to Love,” “Purple Rain,” “Thriller,” and “We Will Rock You.” Playing guitar were Max Conine ’24 and Amo Forman ’27, joined by Lucas Lesburg ’24 on bass, Matthias Paulson ’26 on drums (subbing in for Quinn Conine ’27), and Myriam Lai ’27 and Counselor Doug Neuman on keys.
“It’s been a lot of hard work—especially with ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ a difficult song!” said Haley Hicks ’25. “When it all comes together—with the band, the beats, and the notes falling into place—it’s been amazing!”
