Knights Dominate on the Field at Historic Homecoming
The BB&N spirit was high over the weekend as nearly all of the 12 home teams competing won their matchups at Homecoming Weekend. With a slate of fun family activities to match, this year’s homecoming was an excellent way to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the merger between Buckingham School and Browne & Nichols.
To kick off the festivities, students at the Upper School hosted their annual Knighting Ceremony, where the senior class president and senior prefects ‘knight’ new students and induct them into their color teams for their time on campus. These teams compete to earn points through Knight Games hosted throughout the year. Seizing the first win of the year was the green team, showing just how low they could go in a game of limbo.
Later, under the shining sun at the Upper School, students of all ages took part in a host of PA-sponsored activities including bouncy castles, free doughnuts, merchandise sales, cornhole, and more. Nearby on Nichols Field, the 6-8 Boys Soccer Gold had a dominant showing over Roxbury Latin School, winning by an astonishing 7-0. Later in the evening, the Boys JV and Varsity Soccer teams replicated a similarly impressive scoreline, defeating Governor’s Academy 4-1 and 5-1, respectively.
The Knight domination continued on Saturday at Grove Street, with both Girls Varsity Soccer and Varsity Football earning victories. Back at the Upper School, varsity volleyball continued their undefeated streak, beating Governor’s in 3 straight sets. Regardless of the playing surface or level of competition, the Knights went 9-2-1 at home; an assertive showing all around.
After an exciting weekend filled with Knight spirit and victories galore, the BB&N community is primed to cheer on the rowing team and alumni boats at the Head of the Charles October 18-20. Â
